The VUCA era is no longer just a buzzword but has become a reality. Moreover, the conflict between Iran and the U.S. and Israel demonstrates that even someone of President Donald Trump’s stature can make statements that change daily—or even by the minute. This illustrates the current dynamics of the world; indeed, the Iran conflict itself shows that issues are becoming increasingly complex, uncertain, unclear, and fraught with ambiguity. What we see in the media is not necessarily the reality unfolding, and conversely, what is actually happening is not necessarily reported in the media.
This is precisely what both private companies and state-owned enterprises (SOEs) must address: the current era requires more than just “knowledge”; what is needed is “Awareness”—a new mindset for employees to become the best versions of themselves, fostering a spirit of change not from external pressures but from within. Recently, PLN Bangka Belitung organized a two-day The7Awareness training session during the 2026 Ramadan period, which yielded the desired results. In the The7Awareness concept itself, leadership based on awareness gives rise to leadership rooted in self-awareness—understanding one’s weaknesses and strengths—thereby enabling self-control, and ultimately leading to genuine change.

Change is a goal every leader must pursue; personal transformation drives organizational transformation, ultimately creating a positive impact on both employees and society. Not all leaders have the courage to bring about major change, because every major change carries significant risks—namely, the leader’s own comfort zone. Yet ultimately, those who successfully drive transformation will realize that the first person who must make sacrifices for their grand vision is themselves. They must overcome their own fears and cast aside all past traumas with genuine commitment. PLN Bangka Belitung recognizes that leadership today is no longer merely about “I know,” but rather “I am fully aware that I must be better.”

At the PLN 2026 Leadership Forum organized by PLN Bangka Belitung, it was demonstrated that this VUCA era can be overcome by reinforcing leadership rooted in awareness, specifically through The7Awareness: 7 levels of heart and soul awareness to become an above-average employee. If employees and managers have not yet been introduced to or trained in The7Awareness, they will exhibit the following attitudes and traits:
1. Sabotaging fellow employees2. Taking pleasure in seeing coworkers cornered and blamed
3. Changing only when forced or under supervision by superiors.
4. Work motivation driven by incentives or bonuses
5. Easily fragile and undermining one another
6. Loss of empathy and social concern
7. Quick to give up due to circumstances.
Through The7Awareness Leadership Training, PLN managers gained leadership insights they had not previously acquired. During the two-day training attended by 40 PLN managers from Bangka and Belitung, they gained momentum in the following areas:

A conscious leader differs from one who has lost awareness: aware that a position is a trust, aware that life is not merely about existing but about giving it meaning, aware that goodness attracts more goodness, aware that one possesses limitless potential when maximized—this awareness leads to tangible, impactful change, not just beautiful words. Breaking through excessive comfort and fighting the excuses that always arise due to the mind games of the past.
